Olive Upholstery Lambskin
Lambskins used for furniture upholstery come from Australian Merino sheep that live outdoors in free-range conditions. The skins are a byproduct of the meat and wool industries, and in collaboration with our partners, we select the skins with the best curls and firm wool—making them a perfect choice for any piece of furniture. Our lambskins are tanned and dyed in Turkey and are certified as 100% European-processed.
At Sipo, you can purchase exactly the lambskins you need for the piece of furniture you want to upholster, and if you’re unsure about sewing them together, we can also do that for you. All we need is a pattern for the furniture cover, with marking lines and without seam allowances. Immediately upon receipt , we’ll provide a quote for sewing the pieces together, including the skins.
Each hide measures 10.00 square feet on average, and the wool is sheared to a length of between 18 and 20 mm to provide optimal texture and durability during use. There may be slight variations in shade from one hide to another, even within the same color, but we’re happy to sort them for you.
Lambskin is maintenance-free under normal use, as the wool’s natural lanolin content makes it virtually impervious to dirt. The wool will retain its elasticity for years and remain fresh and inviting. From time to time, it’s inevitable that something will be spilled on the hide, but it doesn’t immediately soak into the wool. Therefore, you can usually just let the hide dry and then brush or vacuum it clean. If the wool doesn’t come out completely clean, you can wash out the stain with water(below 30 degrees) and then dry and brush it. Lanolin is the wool’s secret and its defense against dirt. Therefore, we advise against using harsh detergents and scrubbing too vigorously.
